What is “Asalan” or “Cong” Term Meaning in Damar Batu?

The term “asalan” (often written “asalan” or “cong” in certain contexts, such as “Damar Batu Asalan”) generally refers to products or work that are unsorted, mixed, or done without any special quality/neatness standards.

In the context of commodities such as damar batu or agricultural products, asalan means that the product is sold as is, a mixture of good and less good quality, not sorted by size or cleanliness.

Asalan is usually obtained directly from farmers after they pick or harvest a product. It is then sold directly in sacks by measuring the weight. This transaction is carried out quickly and usually without sorting the goods inside the sacks. The sacks are usually mixed with soil, damp or wet, or even mixed with other objects.

Asalan is the cheapest because it’s sourced directly from farmers. It’s then cleaned, dried, and sorted according to requirements, leading to a higher price, thanks to the selection of qualities such as size, color, and so on.
